Objective

After provisioning the device serial number in the Self Service Portal (https://gztp.versa-networks.com/), follow the steps and troubleshooting below for activating the device.

The GZTP Self-Service Portal is designed to enable customers to provision/de-provision infrastructure and/or devices on the Global ZTP platform hosted by Versa.

Steps to Follow

  1. Ensure the device serial number is first provisioned on the GZTP Self Service Portal.
  2. Connect the device to the internet line after provisioning the serial number on the GZTP Self Service Portal.

Note: Mismatch between serial number on GZTP provisioned list and the device actual serial number will result in activation failure.

Troubleshooting Steps if the Device is Unable to Activate

  1. Ensure device vni-0/0 is connected to an internet line which assigns a DHCP IP address to the device interface.
  2. Ensure the device can resolve the FQDNs below and has IKE connectivity to the resolved IP address, depending on the PSK/PKI method selected on the GZTP Self Service Portal.

PSK:

  • staging-controller1-psk.versa-networks.com
  • staging-controller2-psk.versa-networks.com

PKI:

  • staging-controller1-cert.versa-networks.com
  • staging-controller2-cert.versa-networks.com

Verify Connectivity

Test reachability to the staging controller:

> ping staging-controller1-psk.versa-networks.com routing-instance WAN1-Transport-VR

Run tcpdump on vni-0/0 to check IKE traffic:

> tcpdump vni-0/0 filter "port 500 or port 4500"

If you can see outgoing packets but no inbound packets from the receiver, there might be a connectivity issue on the ISP side. Please check with the ISP provider to ensure that there is no connectivity issue.

If the connectivity is fine, please create a support request with Versa TAC for further debugging on the GZTP platform.
